During our nightly chat in the pub after work tonight, our conversation changed to childhood rhymes, with about 3 differnt generation of ages it was really funny to hear all the differnt versions.
Which version do you remember?

Do they still play scissors, paper, stone in the playgrounds today. Maybe we should get the three leaders to play this outside number 10 and whoever wins gets the keys.

I know what you mean, dad's told me one just a minute ago and I remember it but instead of it being chinese they were indian...I suppose it changes depending on how society takes it. I've had to study them for AS Language - it's been a giggle!!

I remember the bit about 'ask no questions tell no lies' Jen, but I knew it as 'ever seen a chinaman doing up his flies'. The rest of it is new to me. Amazing how they get changed over the years. Here's another; I'm a little fairy I don't swear, Shit bugger arsehole poop, I don't care.

My cousin taught me one about a Chineseman years and years ago: 'Ching Chong Chinaman sitting on the grass, Along came a bumblebee and stung him on his arse, Ask no questions, tell no lies,
I saw a policeman doing up his flies, Flies are a nuisance, bugs are even worse And this is the end of my silly little verse.

Bill's just made a good point. A lot of you may or may not know I'm a folky at heart, and I genuinely believe that most of the stuff below IS actually as important a part of our cultural heritage as 'Ring-a-ring o' roses', and should not be forgotten. So get out there Bill and spread the word nice and thick, then wash it down with a cold cup of sick.

We used to do the same Ipp Dipp rhyme as Tattooed Jackass. As for Popeye: 'I'm Popeye the Sailorman, I live in a caravan, When I go swimming, I kiss all the women, I'm popeye the Sailorman!' Quite a tame one there.

I'm Popeye the sailorman, I live in a caravan, There's a hole in the middle, Where I do my piddle, I'm Popeye the sailorman.

Chinky chinky Chinaman kept a little shop, all that he sold was peppermint rock. S**t on a plate and called it cake, pee'd in a bottle and called it pop. My mom used to say this, pity she's not around to see it in print.

Laughing at MrsM's Milk milk lemonade. I'd forgotten about that. It makes "1 potato, 2 potato, 3 potato, four. 5 potato, 6 potato, 7 potato more" sound really naff.
