New York New York

I have a chance to go to New York in September with some lads to play golf at some of the worlds best courses and to obviously sample some of New Yorks hotspots.

Here is my quandry.
I will have to cancel 7 nights work.
It will cost me on top of the lost work about £1500
I do not know all that well, 2 of the 6 going.
I have to have a buggy when playing locally let alone Winged Foot!
I am possibly the most unsociable entertainer in the world.
I like golf but get bored very easily.

Pro's are.
I can go to Broadway in the evenings.
American girls love an English accent.
I can buy balls cheaply in bulk on ebay.
American girls love an English accent.
I can make my own mini documentary.
American girls love an English accent.

So what do you think? Please feel free to add your own pro's and con's and vote below on the poll.

I was supposed to be going to New York with some friends this summer but we're not due to costs and i sooooooo regret it! You can't put a price on an amazing experience! ...... Well you can - but then choose to ignore it! =)

The work will always be here for you when you get home and the money will be earned another time but you'll only get one chance to enjoy this trip...If you don't go just imagine who you might have missed out on meeting???? Get on that plane matey..You deserve it.. x

Nice Destination I echo NightShifts Post. A Mate of mine(A Scot) always replied with "Who,er You calling Bloody English" when over there. Always got a laugh out of them.

I think you should do an online version of YES man....this vote (and others to follow) should determine whether you do things or not....think of the publicity..."Torquay Entertainer hands life over to his website users"....

for a start your life couldnt get any more madcap and chaotic......Noddlers would have the final say on who you could take out on dates and who it would be a very good idea to ignore completely and the odd ocassion you ended up steaming drunk dressed as a randy seagull with a " I want to bum a gull " banner round your neck, would be down to MS not me, I promise........

I think you'd find it worth if only for Broadway.

Actually I've just realised the similarity in my first visit to NY. I went as a kind of travelling minstrel with Maidstone Rugby Club (I knew nothing about rugby at the time and basically went to get the 'after game' party going). I didn't know the people I was with, they were big butch rugby types and not really my kind of people at all and I couldn't tune in to the city one bit. The next time I went, which was about four or five months later, I went as part of a tour with my band (the Bully Wee Band) and latched onto the vibe of the city straight away.
Just saying that who you're with can help you either appreciate where you are or not.

I went alone in 1988, as you well know, to live and work! When the cabbie dropped me off and made me walk the last mile because of the area, I shit myself!! You have people if you need them, you don't have to play golf and socialise all the time?. It is, in my opinion, safer than Torquay on a Saturday, a most amazing place and American Girls love an English accent! Don't necessarily do the touristy bits either. That aside it might be better if you went under different circumstances as the golf will kill you!!!

knowledge is experience, whether you enjoy the experience or not , you still learn from it, i say go stevey, have a break, enjoy yourself, and do a bit of handshaking, you never know who you bump in too, could be someone you could do some business with, or a nice young lady you fall in love with, just go its always nice to play golf .

Don't forget there are areas of New York where American BOYS love an English accent too so look out for Adam's Big Apple. Agree with Signwriter, having been a few times meself, you do NOT go to New York to play golf.

Stop spunking money on this site for 5 minutes and promoting people that really should be able to sort their own lives out by now and save up to go on a great trip that you will remember for a long time. If you dont, fancy 9 holes at Heale...? See how crap is that ! Go on ! do it !
