If you don’t know who this woman is I think we all should.

I watched her receive an award last night on the Pride of Britain Awards and shuddered at what she has been through.

Take a look at the work she’s done and let us know your feelings. Not just about her, but the overall subject of forced marriages.

It is appalling that we still tolerate this behaviour in our supposedly modern society. This woman is a pillar of strength and inspiration to those caught in similar circumstances and should be supported by all who believe in even the most basic of human rights. If those that threaten her can be identified, they should be dealt with severely as an example that we will not tolerate these barbaric and misguided views in this country.

Yes BigCol, I took your advise and looked her up. I support her 100%. No-one should be forced into such an agreement and I shudder, as do most, when I hear of the indignities she has been put through. I can not only understand her frustration at the world she left behind but also the feeling of abdonment by her 'friends' and family. I can empathise with her entirely.

I also watched the Pride of Britain Awards last night and I think this lady is an inspiration. Her story is tragic but her strength and determination is admirable. This is a wake up call that arranged marriages have extreme consequences and good on her for bringing this to light and turning her negative experience into a positive by helping others in a similar situation.

This serves as a good indictation to why i write the things i do, all these atrocities because of some archaic teaching or religion, and they believe they will be rewarded because of these views and practices, lets not even get into female circumcision that goes on more than we would like to believe in THIS country. If i didnt treat it with humour my head would pop.

You made me jump there for a second NG when I thought you were implying the Awards system is a joke, but now realise you were talking about the “honour-based” violence system. Thought I'd better straighten that out in case anyone else made the same mistake.

The "Honour" system is a joke and the sooner we stop treating these uneducated and misguided fools with kid-gloves the better.

I have only taken a brief glance at the content in the weblink but I really am fed up with these members of different faiths living in our country, claiming our many benefits yet thinking they are above the law! This is Britain! If you want to live here you cannot kidnap somebody and force them into a marriage they do not want! You really can't expect us to keep swallowing this absolute corruption of the system. Trouble is the PC brigade will keep supporting you because they are probably on the take from some government backed scheme to help assist kidnapping of foreign nationals! This woman deserves all the support this country can offer but I guarantee the kidnappers and bullies will get more sympathy if it ever got out.
