Yesterday started happily after a brilliant evening on Saturday. Beautiful day, just right for a good walk. Must wash up before I go out I thought. Good job I went into the kitchen, water was streaming through the ceiling from the flat upstairs. I went up and knocked but couldn't get a reply. Phoned the landlord who straight away sent someone round. He couldn't get a reply either but has a master key. I did feel bad about disturbing the people upstairs as the lady works nights at the hospital but then again they might be at church. The plumber went in I was following because he asked me to. Yes, we had woken my neighbour but the water coming into me was an emergency. Leaking washing machine was the cause. Onto today, another beautiful day but I'm cleaning and washing down dirty water marks from the wall. "Oh well" I thought "maybe it needs decorating, will get round to it in a few weeks time" But now I am not a 'happy bunny'. The water found it's level and now there are water marks on my lounge ceiling and down the wall. Have tried to clean it off and it looks worse. I really like the young couple upstairs so do I ask if they have insurance or pay for it all myself or, as I have always done get some ladders and DIY. I would have to decorate the whole room otherwise it would look terrible and I'm a tad fussy. There we are, perhaps I need a man 'that does!' DIY!!!

Take a tip from TGV and paint your walls green, that way you dont have to worry about the water stains.

Can you not claim on the landlords insurance. They know it wasn't your fault.

I've adapted my mates DIY song for you and your situation..........“The upstairs flat it leaked with water running down my walls, Yeah water gushing everywhere just like Niagara Falls, The book said use some plumbers tape to make your pipe-work fit, But that ain't very easy when you’re up to your neck in water.” Claim on their insurance and get some nice man to come in and do the re-decorating for you..........You never know...

Get the landlord in, show them the problem, claim it off their insurance. Do not take no for an answer and do not leave it more than 2 days to complain.
