If you're ever feeling glum,an evening with Mephisto and his tackle is always good for a laugh. I am of course talking Fishing Tackle! One child down this evening due to a sleepover we decided to take No1 lad Fishing. It was all very exciting as we were venturing out passed his bedtime and looking forward to a stretch of the legs and some quality time together. We parked a way away and took a leisurely wlak to Torquay Harbour, pitched up and ready to start. Now if you are not aware of Mephistos previous fishing expeditions i can only say that every time i am crying with laughter in the frist 5 minutes as he is to fishing what Frank Spencer is to,well anything really. He looked like he knew what he was doing and cast off in magnificent style and SNAP! F...ing Marvellous was his reaction and mine and the boys was to fall about laughing although a little dissappointed to realise it was over before it started. 'I Want to Cry!' were uttered from his quivering lips to which me and the lad laughed even more! Never mind we can re thread a new line.... only someone (that was probably me oops) had left all the fishing Tackle in the car. Me and my lad took the long walk there and back as we were not giving in that easily and on our return had the most fantastic evening. Mephisto showed great patience in teaching my lad to Fish (blind leading the blind really but a very touching site) We had a lovely evening and as my lad climbed into bed he said it was the best night ever. It just goes to show that you don't have to be Mr.Perfect at everything to give children what they need, just a little natural time and effort to make them feel great.

Was going to do as you suggested MS but I was afraid of the bottom feeders with large teeth!

I've seen mephisto's tackle dangling over the side of Haldon Pier on many occasions and it's not a pretty sight!

Yes Fluffy, as you know I'm not renowned for my patience but from somewhere calm the calm, probably the environment, near the sea at dusk, that helped. Can't wait to catch and cook!

Nice one Mephisto! It would appear that you remained a lot calmer than I would have done! The only outcome if that had been me would have been a fishing rod launched into the sea and some nice new words for Juniors vocabulary!

Nice story, although my brain was working over time when you said youd forgotten the tackle.I had visions of Mephisto improvising with a bit of peanut butter and dangling something over the side, and waiting for something to bite. I believe the Inuits perfected such a techinique.

Got my attention for all the wrong reasons, but I love your story for all the right reasons.

Lovely story, all it takes is time. Reminds me of a time when Mephisto and TGV were taken fishing. Must blog that sometime if I get the go ahead.

Ah lovely story, i have to agree with the natural times being memorable for kids, my son practically grew up at our beach hut at broadsands and talks more about our swing ball challenges than he ever does about the play station that cost an arm and a leg!! We have such a beautifull bay here for ourselves and our children to explore, these stories remind you to indulge more often!...Anyone for swing ball??

As with all tackle, it's not what you've got, it's what you do with it.
